Thin Lizzy

Thin Lizzy

IRL

Thin Lizzy got their name from a comic-book character — original guitarist Eric Bell suggested "Tin Lizzie" from The Dandy magazine, then changed the spelling to "Thin Lizzy" as a playful nod to the Dublin accent (where "thin" sounds like "t'in"). Formed in 1969 and led by the charismatic Phil Lynott, they pioneered the twin-guitar harmony attack that defined Boys Are Back in Town, the international hit from their 1976 album Jailbreak.
