A-Ha

NOR

a-ha is a Norwegian synth-pop trio formed in Oslo in 1982 by Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen, and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy. Their hit Take On Me flopped twice before the 1985 third version — with its iconic rotoscoped video featuring around 3,000 hand-drawn frames over 16 weeks — sent the song to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making a-ha the first Norwegian band ever to top the American charts. The video won six awards at the 1986 MTV VMAs, and today has more than a billion views on YouTube.
