Van Morrison
Van Morrison's masterpiece Astral Weeks was recorded in just three days in late 1968 with a group of jazz musicians who'd barely met. The Belfast-born singer-songwriter — who'd already given the world "Gloria" with his band Them and the pop classic "Brown Eyed Girl" — fused folk, jazz, blues, and Celtic mysticism into something entirely new. Rolling Stone later ranked Astral Weeks #19 on its 500 Greatest Albums list. He was knighted in 2016.
