Sting

Sting

GBR

Before he became Sting, Gordon Sumner was a schoolteacher in Newcastle who got his stage name from a black-and-yellow striped sweater that made bandmates compare him to a bee. He moved to London in 1977 to form The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. Their 1983 hit "Every Breath You Take" is one of the most-played songs in radio history. Across his Police and solo careers, he's won 17 Grammys and sold 100+ million records.
